What we do today helps the child get ready for that first day of school, no matter how far away it may seem. During the first three years, trillions of connections between brain cells are being made.  A child's relationships and experiences during the early years greatly influence how his or her brain grows.  Children learn best through their everyday experiences they share with the people they love and trust.  Help your little one get ready for that first day in kindergarten by: * Sharing Books; * Talking and singing with them to build language; * Making everyday routines "teachable" moments; * Encouraging pretend play; * Teaching acceptable behavior; * Giving reasonable opportunities to make choices; * Helping to build self-confidence by giving your child responsibilities and * Providing challenges for them to learn problem solving.
